I've been walking past one of these the last days, and thought to myself: This is a really forgotten car. The DS and CX reached almost instant classic status, but this? No, not even now that it's 25 years old. It doesn't look that old, that's for certain.
Yeah yeah, I know about the quality issues and all that, but that is way more acceptable now that it's old and..
..classic?

It's a coming classic. The CX didn't get it'sclassic status right out of the box, it had to age and mature and so will the XM. 5-10 years and people who wouldn't want to be seen dead in one, will line up to buy one. Which means now would be a good time to stash a few. Do you have a large barn?

Yeah, that's obligatory here.
Though they made the typical mistake of using one old version and one facelifted of the car, just look at the grille and lights..

It'll have its day, I think. In the meantime, shush! I shan't have values rising while I'm not in a position to pick one up.

If I had a barn, this would be one of the cars filling it up. All cars become more desirable when they turn 30, but I have a feeling this will become one of the most desirable cars from the 90's. It's just so different from all the blobs and bloated cars of today.

My dad used to own one of the smaller, less classic-bound Xantias. The XM is a flagship model, so it'll likely become a classic at some point like all big Citroens.

The Xantia is also a very underrated car, what a difference from the BX. It's probably a bit too "normal" to become a classic though, but you never know.

Just realized this:

It really is too "conventional" for a Citroen. Not only does it lack the classic Citroen shape, it was also less innovative than the XM. Having said that the Xantia had the fancy Activa trim with the active anti-roll-bars and shit.

My dad had exactly the same (the color, the wheels, the V6 PRV).
I always loved this car when I was a child... and even now I still like it.
But I don't think it will become a classic, I wish I'm wrong.
